To activate an Amazon gift card, follow these steps:
- Scratch Off the Protective Coating: If your gift card has a protective coating covering the claim code, use a coin or your fingernail to scratch it off gently to reveal the code. Be careful not to scratch too hard to avoid damaging the code.
- Visit the Amazon Website: Go to the official Amazon website (www.amazon.com) using your web browser.
- Sign In to Your Amazon Account: If you already have an Amazon account, sign in with your email address and password. If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to create one.
- Navigate to Your Account: Once logged in, hover over the “Account & Lists” option at the top right corner of the Amazon homepage, and then click on “Your Account” from the dropdown menu.
- Access the Gift Cards Section: Scroll down to the “Gift cards” section and click on “Redeem a Gift Card” or “Reload Your Balance.” This will take you to the gift card redemption page.
- Enter the Claim Code: On the gift card redemption page, enter the claim code from your Amazon gift card into the provided field. Make sure to enter the code exactly as it appears on the card.
- Click on “Apply to Your Balance”: After entering the claim code, click on the “Apply to Your Balance” button. If the claim code is valid, the amount of the gift card will be added to your Amazon account balance.
- Confirmation: You should receive a confirmation message indicating that the gift card has been successfully redeemed and the balance has been added to your account.
- Shop on Amazon: Now that your gift card balance is added to your account, you can use it to make purchases on Amazon.com. During the checkout process, the gift card balance will automatically be applied to your order total.
- Check Your Balance: You can always check your Amazon gift card balance by visiting the gift card balance page in your account settings.
